O'Hara's Surgery Successful

Giants C Shaun O'Hara had surgery to implant a screw in his right foot, but must now undergo additional surgery.

Shaun O'Hara had a screw implanted in the Lisfranc sprain in the Pro Bowl center's right foot that kept him out for seven games, and will now need another surgery to remove a bone chip that caused the inflammation in the left Achilles' tendon that sidelined him for three others in the first half of the season.

Surgeons put in the screw to assure that the sprain would heal properly over the offseason. Once doctors are satisfied with his progress, he will have the other surgery. The hope is that O'Hara will be back by June and be able to practice at least on a limited basis in training camp.

O'Hara was selected to his third straight Pro Bowl in December, despite playing in only six games in 2010. He appeared in the Giants' final two, but because of rust and the lingering injuries, he worked at reduced effectiveness.
