The Giants head into tomorrow's game at the Patriots' Gillette Stadium undermanned, as Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks, and David Baas did not make the trip north. They'll need lots of help now from Brandon Jacobs and the just-activated Ramses Barden to get past the 5-2 Pats.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and center David Baas did not
travel with the Giants to New England Saturday, which means Brandon Jacobs and Ramses Barden will see plenty of action.

Barden, the third-year receiver, was activated from the reserve/PUP list, where
he has spent the entire season. He has not played since Nov. 14, 2010, when
he fractured his ankle in a game against Dallas. He returned to practice after
the bye two weeks ago. In his first two seasons, Barden played in nine games and
had six catches for 80 yards.

Bradshaw, the team’s leading rusher with 440 yards; Nicks, the top receiver with
38 catches; and Baas, the starting center, were downgraded to out Saturday with respective cracked foot bone, hamstring, and neck injuries. All three players were hurt in last week’s victory over Miami.

Brandon Jacobs is expected to start at running back for Bradshaw, which means he'll have a chance to get plenty of work, a sore subject for him the last couple of weeks.

Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride expects big things from Jacobs, especially after his moaning about a reduced role following a Miami game that saw him carry just four times for 10 yards.

"What would be better than the opportunity that he’s going to get now?" Gilbride said earlier in the week. "He’s been clamoring for a chance. The chance is here. This is an opportunity. You want to show what you can do. I’m looking forward to seeing the way he plays. I think he’s going to respond very well. I’m excited about seeing him play."

Victor Cruz
will likely fill in for Nicks, and Kevin Boothe will step in for Baas at center
for the second time this season. Baas also missed the Seattle game on Oct. 9.
