The New York Giants will be without starting right tackle David Diehl for the next six weeks due to an injured right thumb.

After addressing the media wearing cast on his right hand Tuesday, the New York Giants announced offensive lineman David Diehl will undergo surgery to repair his injured right thumb. Diehl sustained the injury during the Giants 20-12 preseason loss to the Colts.

New York's right tackle participated in practice yesterday, but a subsequent MRI revealed additional damage that needed to be corrected by surgery.

Diehl is expected to miss six weeks.
