Coughlin irked by Wilson's fumbling issues

After a turnover-plagued loss to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night, Tom Coughlin and company are focusing on limiting miscues starting with running back David Wilson's fumbling bug.

Peppered with questions from the media regarding David Wilson's recent case of "fumblitis", New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin expressed a level of concern with his running back's lack of ball security.

"He fumbled the ball twice," admitted Coughlin. "He's got to straighten that out. We're not going to have a guy on the field that's fumbling the ball."

Wilson had a penchant for putting the ball on the ground in limited action last season, but according to Coughlin the second year pro appeared to be moving in the right direction heading into the 2013 season.

"The interesting thing is we didn't see it in training camp, we didn't see it in any of the preseason games, but it showed up then [Monday night]," noted Coughlin.

The Giants are going to be counting on Wilson to be their feature back especially with Andre Brown out for at least the next 4-6 weeks with a fractured leg. Coughlin and company are emphasizing proper technique in order to make Wilson's turnovers a thing of the past.

"In practice he's going to have that ball in that position all the time," said Coughlin. "Not just when he thinks he's running free and no one is around him, I want to see the ball in the right spot all the time."

New York signed a familiar face in Brandon Jacobs to shore up its running back depth chart. Jacobs, who played seven seasons with the Giants before joining the San Francisco 49ers last season, is expected to have a major role on offense particular in short yardage and goal line situations.
