The captain discussed the team’s most recent loss with reporters after the game.

The Giants were fairly competitive in Sunday’s 36-21 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. They even took the lead in the third quarter thanks to a pair of touchdown receptions by Rueben Randle, but in many ways this most recent Giants loss was just like the four that preceded it. The team ran for just 53 yards on 17 carries and committed four turnovers while forcing none on defense.

“Turnovers lose games, we all understand that,” said safety and captain Antrel Rolle. “But as a defense, turnovers do happen and we have to do a better job of going out there and stopping them. I think we played pretty good ball there today at times, but then at the end of the game, when the opportunity presented itself, they came down with the plays and we didn't come down with enough of them.”

Eli Manning and the offense made enough plays to erase a 19-7 halftime deficit and take a 21-19 lead late in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a different story, though. Manning threw interception on three consecutive possessions while Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles threw a pair of touchdown passes to get Philadelphia the win.

“We are 0-5 right now,” said Rolle, “I don't look at the little things that happen during the game. I look at W's. It doesn't matter what I do as an individual, it doesn't matter what anyone of us do as individuals. It's about team effort and right now we know we aren't putting it out there on the field.”

New York’s defense did a great job limiting Eagles star halfback LeSean McCoy to just 46 yards on 20 carries, but the unit got burned in the passing game. Starting quarterback Michael Vick threw for 105 yards on 14 attempts before leaving the game with a hamstring injury. Foles picked up the slack and threw for 197 yards on 25 attempts while adding two fourth quarter touchdown passes. The Giants sacked Philadelphia just once and failed to force a turnover during the game.

After the game, Rolle was adamant that the Giants are not going to give up. “I'm always going to be confident. I'm always going to come out here fighting,” he said, “I don't care if we are 0-15. You are always going to get the same fight out of myself. We just need to pick it up. We need to pick it up. Get our head out of our ass and pick it up. That's the reality of it. We are losing games around here and that's not Giants football we are playing.”
