New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has missed three consecutive games due to a shoulder injury and may not return for the remaining three games of the 2013 campaign.

It’s become apparent that Jason Pierre-Paul will be sidelined from the team’s upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks. Pierre-Paul suffered an injury to his right shoulder in Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders and after having trouble with it against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. Since, he has sat out and is not necessarily expected to return for Sunday’s game against Seattle. Pierre-Paul is unsure of his status for Sunday, but reports surfaced that doctors informed the team that No. 90 could be done for the remainder of the season according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“I don’t know yet,” said Pierre-Paul of playing Sunday. “I’m rehabbing like I said I’ve been. The shoulder’s getting better, that’s a good thing.” Although the trainers and Coughlin himself have doubts about Pierre-Paul’s return for Sunday, the Giant has still been attending practice.

“I wasn’t on the field,” Pierre-Paul told reporters. “I was just looking at practice. That’s all I can do. I was out there yesterday, I was rehabbing and have been rehabbing ever since. I’m starting to feel better.”

Missing the end of the season, no matter how bad, is an unwanted and irritating experience for the majority of players in the NFL, but Pierre-Paul says he is not frustrated.

“Everything happens for a reason,” and Pierre-Paul remarked. “It’s a day-by-day process. I already got a second opinion on it and it doesn’t need surgery; it just needs rest.”

The Giants have only three remaining games this year after losing this past Sunday to the San Diego Chargers officially ending their chances at the postseason. Although Pierre-Paul wants to support his team, many wonder if the remainder of the season is worth further injury.

“There’s no point in shutting it down,” noted Pierre Paul. “If I could help my team win football games, that’s what I’m going to do…Your team is out there sacrificing, practicing every day. You just want to be a part of that, period.”

The Giants play Seattle Sunday at 1pm EST at home.
