The Giants signed offensive lineman Solomon Page, a one-time second-draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys who has played in 67 NFL games, with 58 starts.

Page, 6-4 and 329 pounds, played in eight games with seven starts last season for the San Diego Chargers. He signed with the Detroit Lions on July 27, but was released on Monday.

Page, a product of West Virginia University, was the 55th overall pick of the 1999 draft. He played in 14 games with six starts as a rookie. From 2000-2002, he started all 35 games in which he played. Solomon joined the Chargers prior to the 2003 season.

Page worked at left guard in today's practice, but can also play tackle.

"I was told I'll get a chance to compete for a starting job," Page said. Asked whether he would play guard or tackle against the Jets, Page said, "Whatever they decide to do I'll do, and do it with a smile on my face."

To make room on the roster for Page, defensive back Ray Green was placed on injured reserve. Green suffered a knee injury in practice two weeks ago.
