Giants, QB Miller part ways

Posted May 15, 2005

The Giant Insider has learned that the Giants and backup quarterback Jim Miller have come to an agreement on an injury settlement that ends Miller's career with the Giants little more than two months after it began.

New York inked the veteran to provide support and depth behind second-year franchise QB Eli Manning, but the oft-injured Miller required hip surgery recently after tearing a muscle in his hip during the offseason workout program.

Miller's departure, which was expedited by New York's landing Tim Hasselbeck off waivers from Washington last week, leaves Jesse Palmer and Hasselbeck to fight it out for the backup spot, with Jared Lorenzen the longshot hoping to stick at number 3.
