Robbins continues to fight

One of the most intriguing camp battles has been the ascension of former first-round pick William Joseph and the accompanying drop of last year's starter, Fred Robbins, to third-string.

A very confused Robbins told TGI he's trying to keep his cool.

"It's a little frustrating, but I can't get more frustrated by it," he said. "I still have to go out and do my job.

"I would like to be in a position where I can contribute more."

Coughlin singled Robbins out as someone who could afford to drop a few pounds.

"Fred just has to continue to work and maybe get himself a little lighter, so that he can have that stamina going for him and also the idea that we are definitely looking for people who will help us stop the run," Coughlin said.

Robbins is still fighting for his starting spot.

"I think there's a chance," he said. "I'm not giving up. There's still a lot of room for me to improve – and I'm not satisfied with where I'm at right now – but I have made a little progress.

"I'm not beating myself down. I'm staying positive about myself so everything's all good." Recommended Stories
