Safety Jack Brewer, who played in 13 games last season, and defensive tackle Davern Williams, who started in the season-ending victory over Dallas, were among the 16 players released by the Giants.

Brewer, who missed the latter part of training camp this summer after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, was waived injured, as was cornerback Lamont Brightful (shoulder).

Defensive tackle Ahmad Childress was waived/left squad.

Thirteen other players were waived: offensive linemen Greg Walker, Jason Hilliard and Andy Tidwell-Neal; cornerback Michael Bragg; defensive linemen Williams and Bret Eddins; running back Mike Jemison; fullback Luke Lawton; linebackers Joseph Scott and Russ Rabe; wide receiver Zuriel Smith; tight end Wade Fletcher; and safety Diamond Ferri.

The Giants have to make one more move before Tuesday’s mandatory 4 p.m. deadline.
