Giants land hard-hitting safety

Charlie Peprah, a big-hitting safety from Alabama, was the Giants' choice in the fifth round. The 5-11, 206-pounder has started for the Tide the last four years and is viewed as a player with a tremendous upside.

Strengths:
A great natural athlete...Very smooth and fluid...Has good ball skills and a nose for the interception...Plays faster than he runs in shorts...Versatile and has starting experience at multiple positions...Excels in coverage...Aggressive and is not afraid of contact...Hard worker...A four-year starter with tons of experience.

Weaknesses:
Does not have the height you look for at safety...Timed speed is only average at best...Can do a better job of tackling...Doesn't have great instincts...Needs to get stronger...Situational player?...Might be a 'tweener without a true pro position.

Grandfather, I.G. Achampong, was head of state of Ghana, West Africa in the early 1970's...Played his first two seasons at corner then was moved to strong safety and could get looks at either position...Underrated and could be a steal.
