Moss, who has not practiced since July 29, traveled to Manhattan on Tuesday to have his strained quadriceps examined.
Coughlin said he does not know when Moss will return.
“This is a couple of times now that I thought we were going to get him back, but we didn’t,” Coughlin said. “We have to do some more studies and tests. They’re trying to look and see what it is, and if there’s anything more that can be done. That’s what they’ll do.”…
Amani Toomer, Luke Petitgout, Osi Umenyiora and Antonio Pierce all returned to practice…Cornerback Sam Madison (hamstring) did not and Coughlin said his availability for Thursday night’s game will be determined shortly before kickoff…David Tyree (ankle) and Rich Seubert (toe), who were injured against Baltimore, also missed practice…
Coughlin said the starters will likely play into the second quarter against the Chiefs, depending on the number of snaps they get…Rob Johnson will be the second quarterback in the game after Eli Manning. Jared Lorenzen will be third.
