Shockey Agrees to Deal

Shockey ready to sign

First-round draft pick Jeremy Shockey agreed to terms on a contract with the Giants this evening, and is en route to New York.

The associated press reports that first-round draft pick Jeremy Shockey agreed to terms on a contract this evening.

Thus far Shockey has missed the first five days of training camp, a total of nine sessions.

Shockey impressed coaches and teammates during a minicamp after being drafted, catching virtually anything in his path. In his absence during training camp, the coaches have been running the plays designed for Shockey with TE Dan Campbell.

The break in the talks came in when the players surrounding Shockey in the draft had their deals completed (Donte' Stallworth as the 13th selection, and William Green as the 16th overall pick). Terms of the deal with were not immediately available.

"We're putting him on a plane now," agent Drew Rosenhaus said in a telephone interview.
