“I don’t think about it, really,” Barber said. “It’s kind of weird. I’m actually looking forward to the next stage of my life starting. Obviously I want to go out a champion. I want to win the Super Bowl. My focus now is winning each game and getting into the playoffs and going from there."
“But when it’s over I don’t think I’ll be sad it’s over; I’ll be happy that it happened and that I had the career that I had. I’m eager to start the next thing. That’s how I’ve always been; I’ve always looked forward to the next thing. Maybe it’s because I think too much. I was always taught that you can’t put all your eggs in one basket. I was always told that I can’t just rely on sports because you never know when it’s going to be taken away. I never have. I’ve been identified as a football player, but that’s never been how I identified myself. I think it lets me be ready to walk away from the greatest job in America.”
