Giants No Longer Control Destiny

All during the recent losing skid, the Giants still had one thing to point to – they still controlled their own destiny. However, that is no longer the case. Should the Eagles, Giants and Falcons all end up tied at the end of the regular season, due to tiebreakers the Giants would be on the outside looking in.

If the following things unfold, even if New York captures its final two contests, which seems extremely unlikely at this point, they’d be home for the holidays: The Eagles beat Dallas, then lose to Atlanta, the Falcons beat Carolina and the Cowboys beat Detroit.

Eli Manning has been one of the major proponents of the Giants being down but not out while still in control of their destiny.

“We have to handle our business,” he said. “That’s all we can do. That’s all we can worry about.”

Tom Coughlin says nothing changes despite the recent change in status.

“I think you approach it the exact same way,” Coughlin said Monday.

Only time will tell if New York’s stretch of losing five out of six games left them in too big a hole to dig out of.
