Shockey Continues to Progress

There's still no definitive word on the status of Pro Bowl tight end Jeremy Shockey for Sunday's wild card playoff game in Philadelphia. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Shockey, who injured his ankle on Dec. 24 against New Orleans, practiced on a limited basis.

"Jeremy, we worked in as best we could," Coughlin said. "And he did well with the opportunities that he had and hopefully tomorrow will be even more progress."

Coughlin, however, warned against the dangers of rushing number 80 back on the practice field.

"The plan is to work him, as he’s coming back, a certain amount just to make sure that he can progress the next day," he said. "I don’t want any setbacks."

Coughlin also confirmed that Shockey didn't need a full practice before Sunday in order to suit up against the Eagles.

"Not necessarily, no," Coughlin said.
