Camp Players Who Must Shine

Here are a list of players who the Giants need to have great camps.
Osi Umenyiora
– No one could have expected to get as much from Osi Umenyiora as the Giants did in 2005 when he grabbed the NFL by storm and made the Pro Bowl. While last season was not a bomb by any stretch, it wasn’t exactly vintage Osi ’05 either. New York needs constant pass pressure and disruptiveness from Umenyiora, as well as consistent run defense.
Sinorice Moss
– So much was expected from last year’s second-round pick. The speed, the explosiveness, the famous older brother that’s already accomplished so much in the NFL… But then a quad injury knocked Moss out of the box for basically the whole season. All eyes are going to be on him to see what he can do – and if he can stay on the field. As much as the Giants drafted
Steve Smith
as insurance against
Amani Toomer
, you have to figure Moss was part of that decision as well.
Kareem McKenzie
– So how exactly does an enormous right tackle shine? By never getting beaten for a sack or flagged for a penalty. McKenzie has been good so far in his two seasons in New York. The Giants, especially with left tackle a question mark at the moment, need at least very good, if not great, from McKenzie.
Will Demps
– We started to see it a little at the end of last season. But it took Demps most of his first season in New York before he showed why the Giants went out and spent all those free-agent bucks on him. He can hit and he can cover. But when you’re uncertain where you should be on the field, it makes it tough to make plays. New York is hopeful now that he has the defense down that he’ll be able to just go out and play – and play at a high level.
In the next week, TGI will look at several key topics Giants fans should keep their eyes on once training camp opens on Saturday.
