Plax Can’t Go

Plaxico Burress said at lunchtime on Wednesday that he expected to return to practice later that afternoon. After only a few minutes of New York’s workout, Plax pulled the plug on his return.

“We tried to get a day out of him,” Tom Coughlin said. “He started with his group and then couldn’t go.”

Also noticeably out of action was CB Corey Webster, who has hardly had the most stellar of camps thus far. Coughlin said Webster had a hip flexor that “tightened up on him.”

Justin Tuck survived a scare when he had his foot stepped on. However, after practice he said he was no worse for wear. “If nothing else, I’m battle-tested,” he laughed.

Eli Manning was sharp during the workout, completing consecutive beautiful long downfield passes to Anthony Mix and Marco Thomas.

Defensively, Will Demps continued his ascension back to the starting lineup with an interception of a Derrick Ward halfback option pass.
