The Giants practiced today and will work again tomorrow before taking a
three-day bye weekend break.
"We tried to work on some fundamental things," head coach Jim Fassel said. "On offense we
need to work on the red zone, and on defense I want to work on third downs a
little bit more.
"There are a lot of things you can accomplish in a bye week. One of them is
getting some guys healthy, and I think that's coming at the right time for
us. It's a chance to get some guys some work."
Kerry Collins did not throw today and will not tomorrow.
"We've been at it a long time, we have many more weeks to go and he throws
the ball a lot," Fassel said. "If it doesn't hurt his rhythm, which I don't
think it will, he can come out here and do the run game and work with the
backs - it's a precautionary thing. I've done that with quarterbacks before.
It lets him rest his arm. And it gives us a chance to get Jesse Palmer and
Jason Garrett some work."
