After three days off following their exhilarating NFC Championship Game victory, the Giants returned to the practice field on Thursday for their first on-field preparations for Super Bowl XLII.

“It was a good start,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “I told the team I wanted it to be as normal a week as it could be.”

“We had a great practice today,” QB Eli Manning added. “Guys were moving fast. Guys were excited.”

Left guard Rich Seubert did not practice due to his injured knee, but says he’ll definitely be ready to go come game-time.

“If everything goes as well as we hope, he’ll be able to practice next week,” Coughlin said.

Seubert said the same is true of all of his mates.

“I don’t think we’re going to have to worry about momentum or being up for this game,” Seubert said.

For LB Kawika Mitchell, his having to settle for only a one-year, sub-$1 million contract to join the Giants has officially paid off.

“I’m extremely excited,” Mitchell said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to win a championship. It really puts into perspective the reasons why you play this game.”
