New York has already lost a key piece of its Super Bowl champion puzzle, as LB Kawika Mitchell signed with the Bills only hours after free agency opened.

Considering that Mitchell’s agent is Tom Condon, you can bet it’s going to be quite some time until the contract terms become public.

After a slow start, Mitchell played very well down the stretch last season, scoring two defensive touchdowns in the process. Unless the Giants sign another linebacker, which is unlikely, Mitchell will be replaced in the starting lineup by Gerris Wilkinson, who played very well in spot duty last season.

Also, the Giants have contacted former Dolphins QB Cleo Lemon about backing up Eli Manning, but it doesn’t appear as if the two sides will reach an agreement.
