Streak Ends at 11

K Matt Bryant

Giants Kicker Matt Bryant missed wide right from 41 and 37 yards in the first half of the Giants 24-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kicker Matt Bryant streak of 11 consecutive field goals came to an end Sunday night, as the kicker went wide right from 41 and 37 yards in the first half of the Giants 24-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coming into last night's game Bryant was also eight for eight on extra points.

During warmups, head coach Jim Fassel noted Bryant was right on many of his kicks and told him to make an adjustment.

He hit the crossbar on a 53-yard attempt, and the ball bounced back onto the field. The missed kicks weren't the fault of the field, which had just been replaced with new sod.

Bryant was concerned on Friday because the grass blades were high, but he walked the field Saturday and was more at ease with the surface after it had been freshly cut.

Bryant also said he had no trouble with punter Tom Rouen, who was signed Friday and was his new holder for the game, replacing P Matt Allen who was inactive for the game.

Head coach Jim Fassel said "I think he just had a rough day."
