Dixon injury further reduces receiving corps

Players such as Sean Bennett will have to step up, as the Giants lose Tim Carter for the season, and Ron Dixon for at least two weeks.

Ike Hilliard - shoulder injury, out for the remainder of season.

Tim Carter - torn Achilles tendon, out of the remainder of the season.

In his 1:30 press conference on Monday, head coach Jim Fassel said that Ron Dixon has a strained ligament to the knee, and estimates he'll be out two weeks, but it could be more.

Fassel said Daryl Jones will start now along with Amani Toomer. This leaves Sean Bennett as the only other receiver on the active roster.

He also said that a new player was on the way in to talk with the front office, although he wouldn't disclose the player because he not yet signed.

In addition, he stated Giants will work out additional receivers tomorrow.

Our Giant Insider, Ken Palmer, should have more detail on the receiver situation shortly.
