In the coming days, we’ll take a closer look at some of the more prominent categories upon which to focus as training camp nears. Today: Why they won't repeat.

Why they won’t repeat:

Fat cat syndrome – Talk is cheap and these Giants know it. They can talk all they want about how focused they are about this upcoming season. But that does nothing to change the fact that they made it to the top of the mountain and motivation for a return climb is going to be a20lot harder to muster. Tom Coughlin’s toughest challenge this season will be keeping the blinders on all season long.

That’s the breaks – Look back at New York’s final three games last season and you could identify at least one or two key moments that went Big Blue’s way. We here at TGI are firm believers in making your own luck, but every once in a while the football gods must be smiling down on you – aka David Tyree’s miraculous grab – in order for everything to fall into place.

Rough road ahead – The Giants can’t possibly expect to win practically every road game they play this season. Last season’s run was most likely a once-in-a-lifetime deal. The Giants are going to have to do much better than 3-5 at home because they certainly aren’t going to go 7-1 in visiting stadiums during the regular season, let alone win four more in a row in the playoffs. A key to repeating will be their ability to play a home game or two in the postseason.
