The Giants injury list is lengthy. The only player that has been declared out
of the Redskins game is cornerback Will Allen, who hurt his shoulder in last
week's loss to Tennessee. Allen said he believes he will not need surgery.
"I'm playing it day-by-day," Allen said. "It feels better. Not better to the
point where I could go out there right this minute if I had to. But I can
tell each day it's getting better. Once day I had splint on it and the next
day I was without it. And today I'm feeling even better."
Asked if his season had ended, Allen said. "No, definitely not."
Linebacker Dhani Jones is doubtful with an ankle injury. If he can't play,
Kevin Lewis will start at weakside linebacker.
Three players are questionable: linebacker Mike Barrow and cornerback Will
Peterson with concussions and linebacker Quincy Monk with an ankle sprain.
Barrow suffered his second concussion in three weeks against the Titans.
Peterson was hurt the previous week at Houston and didn't play last week.
"Barrow is okay to practice like this, but he still isn't back," Fassel said.
"If we were playing today, he's not playing. When you have a concussion and
you think you're about there, you have to exercise and see what it does to
your head. It's possible. We'll just have to see how he feels. They'll test
him again tomorrow and the next day."
Barrow wants to play, but isn't certain the doctors will let him. If he
can't, rookie Nick Greisen will step in.
"I don't have any symptoms. I feel great," he said. "From the doctor's
standpoint, it happened twice in three weeks. And when you're dealing with
the head, there's no such thing as a mild concussion. A concussion is a
concussion. We'll see what happens."
Peterson worked at the beginning of today's practice, but had to leave
because he didn't feel right.
"Peterson is not there yet," Fassel said.
But he may be there on Sunday. With Allen out, Jason Sehorn will start.
Depending on Peterson's condition, Ralph Brown could also start.
"I feel like I'm getting better now and come Sunday it's probably going to be
a gametime decision," Peterson said.
Eight players are listed as probable: running back Tiki Barber (ankle), tight
end Dan Campbell (groin), wide receiver Ron Dixon (knee), defensive tackle
Cornelius Griffin (ankle), running back Delvin Joyce (eye), defensive tackle
Matt Mitrione (Shoulder), fullback Charles Stackhouse (shoulder) and guard
Jason Whittle (hand/knee).
Griffin missed the last two games, but Fassel said, "He looked like he moved
Campbell might miss the entire week of practice, but expects to play in the
"If he can play, he'll play," Fassel said. "But I don't want to aggravate it
during the week."
Dixon didn't practice, but should play in the game.
