DT Ross Kolodziej was waived by the Giants on Sept. 1. He signed with San Francisco
eight days later and was inactive for three games before being released on
Oct. 14. The 49ers re-signed him on Oct. 16 and he was active, but did not
play, for the New Orleans game on Oct. 20th. The Niners waived him again on
Oct. 22.
Kolodziej, a product of the University of Wisconsin, was the 230th player
taken in the 2001 draft. He played in nine games for the Giants last year,
starting one game. Kolodziej finished the season with four tackles (three
solo).
CB Kato Serwanga played 10 games for the Redskins in 2001, primarily on special
teams. He was put on injured reserve by the Redskins on Sept. 1, 2002, then
waived on Nov. 27. Serwanga played the first two seasons of his career - 1999
and 2000 - for the New England Patriots. On Dec. 26, 1999, he had 16 tackles,
including a sack, against the Buffalo Bills.
Serwanga played two years at the University of California after transferring
from Pacific.
He was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on April
24, 1998. He spent most of his first season on the practice squad. Serwanga
played in 16 games in 1999 and 15 in 2000 for the Patriots. He was waived on
Sept. 2, 2001 and signed by the Redskins on Oct. 17, 2001. Washington
re-signed him on April 11, 2002.
