You know he has to be injured to allow himself to be counted out of a game on Friday. Plaxico Burress, who has made a Giants career out of playing hurt, will be unable to go Sunday in Washington due to his injured hamstring.

Burress, who played in every game last season despite a persistent ankle injury, will be sidelined with a sore hamstring. He left last week’s game after one series without catching a pass. At his daily news briefing, Tom Coughlin said of Burress, “He is progressing, no doubt. He is getting better. He is.”

This will be the first time Burress will be unable to suit up since Nov. 5, 2006, when he did not play against Houston because of a back injury. Domenik Hixon will again start at split end for Burress.

Linebacker Jonathan Goff will also miss the game with a hamstring injury.

Three Giants are questionable. Running back Brandon Jacobs (knee) practiced Friday, but running back Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) and defensive tackle Fred Robbins (shoulder) did not. Hixon (ankle) and defensive ends Justin Tuck (lower leg) and Jerome McDougle (knee) all practiced fully and are probable.
