The Giants made four roster moves Tuesday. Running back Damon Washington, who
suffered a knee injury against Dallas, was placed on injured reserve.
Linebacker Brad Rice was released from the practice squad.
The Giants filled their spots on the roster by signing offensive lineman
Barrett Brooks to the active roster and wide receiver Chris Taylor to the
practice squad.
Brooks, who is 6-4 and 326 pounds, played in two games this season for the
Green Bay Packers, most recently a Dec. 8 contest against the Minnesota
Vikings. He was waived the following day. Brooks was in Denver's training
camp this summer, but was cut on Sept. 1. He was out of football in 2001. He
has played 97 NFL games, with 62 starts.
Brooks joined the NFL as Philadelphia's second-round draft choice in 1995. He
started 63 of the 64 games he played for the Eagles over four seasons. He
signed with Detroit as an unrestricted free agent in 199 and spent two
seasons with the Lions. Brooks was in training camp with the Cleveland Browns
in 2001.
Brooks was a three-year starter at Kansas State.
Taylor, 5-10, 199, was Pittsburgh's seventh-round draft choice in 2001. He
was waived at the end of training camp and spent time last on the practice
squads of Buffalo and Tennessee. He was in training camp with St. Louis this
year, but has not played a game.
At Texas A&M, Taylor had 83 career receptions for 1,316 yards and seven
touchdowns.
