The Giants continued filling needs with their compensatory selection at the end of the third round by taking their highest-rated tight end, Wisconsin’s Travis Beckum, with the 100th overall pick.

Similarly to WR Ramses Barden, who was selected 15 picks before Beckum, New York had a high second-round grade on Beckum and didn’t hesitate to grab him.

“This guy has had tremendous production,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “We think that he gives us another style, another difficult individual to defend.”

At 6-3, 243, Beckum is built more like a big receiver than a tight end, which could serve the Giants well in their numerous multi-TE offensive sets. He was a starter for two-and-a-half years for the Badgers, but only started four games last season due to a hamstring pull and broken left fibula.

According to Ourlads Scouting Services, Beckum has consistent hands, is athletic after the catch, and has good open-field running skills. During his Wisconsin career, Beckum caught 159 passes for 2,149 yards and 11 touchdowns.
