New York’s sixth-round pick yielded the first cornerback – and only the second defender – of the Giants’ draft.

That player is New Mexico product DeAndre Wright. The 5-11, 198-pound Wright was named second team All-Mountain West last season. During his career with the Lobos, Wright picked off 10 passes and posted 25 pass break-ups. Two of the main reasons the Maryland native lasted all the way until the 200th overall pick are the fact that he had offseason surgery on both of his shoulders.

We’ll have more on Wright after we get a chance to speak to a couple of the men responsible for drafting for him.
