Brown the New Ward
4. Andre Brown, RB, North Carolina State
The addition of Andre Brown means there will be a very interesting camp battle between Danny Ware and Andre Brown to replace Derrick Ward. While we did not think it was necessary to draft a RB in the fourth round, competition hurts no one except maybe the loser. We are still high on Ware, so let’s see what happens. Brown is a powerful north-south runner with good vision. He has the speed to run away from defenders. He is a complete back who can catch the ball and he is a good blocker. There is some question about his durability, but if he remains healthy he could be a steal of this draft.
Bomar has Skills
5. Rhett Bomar, QB, Sam Houston State
Rhett Bomar had the skill and talent to be recruited and signed by a major program like Oklahoma. Things did not work out for him with the Sooners and he transferred to Sam Houston State. Bomar will compete with Andre’ Woodson for the third QB spot. Bomar has a lot of work to do. He is undisciplined and inconsistent, but his arm strength and quick release make him a viable fifth-round selection. Chris Palmer and Kevin Gilbride will have their hands full with Bomar and Woodson.
