The Latest on Kareem
Right tackle Kareem McKenzie (knee sprain) and left guard Rich Seubert (sore shoulder) were unable to finish what they started against the Bucs and had to be replaced by rookie Will Beatty and Kevin Boothe, respectively.
Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday he is hoping the team's starting right tackle and left guard will be back to practice Wednesday. McKenzie hurt his knee during Sunday's game, while Seubert's shoulder is a nagging issue that Coughlin said he'll "strengthen, and he'll be ready to go."
Quarterback Eli Manning obviously wants his big right tackle back in there when the Giants head to Kansas City this Sunday for their third consecutive road contest.
"Hope for the best," Manning said. "He has been playing outstanding this year. I don't know what the terms are; hopefully he will be out there on Sunday.
"He does everything we ask him to do. He is a very smart player. He gets great push in the run game, also in pass protection, protecting the right side. I don't know how he could do any better. He has done an outstanding job. He has been playing great so far this year and hopefully he can keep it up."
Manning also admitted being impressed by Beatty's performance in place of McKenzie.
"I thought Will did well," Manning said. "We wanted to slowly get him in the game. Put him in on some short-yardage stuff and get the feel of things before we threw him in at tackle. Obviously, he had to go in the game and play right tackle. He did a good job in pass protection and on run plays. On the final drive that I was in, we wanted to go in and get a touchdown. He was in the whole time, and did a good job."
