Holmes helps out with restructured contract

Kenny Holmes wanted to remain a New York Giant, and it looks like he got his wish. By restructuring his contract and taking a cut, he'll be giving the Giants about $2 million in cap space...

DE Kenny Holmes and the Giants reached a tentative agreement yesterday on a one-year deal restructuring his existing contract and taking a pay cut that will net the Giants about $2 million in cap space, and keep the DE on the roster for another season.

Holmes is expected to sign the contract today which is inscentive loaded, and would cut his total salary from $4.25 million to $2 million and reduce his salary-cap number from $5.25 million to $3 million this year.

Expect the Giants to use that money to re-sign their top priority free agent LT Luke Petitgout.
