With their top two choices off the board, the Giants selected the next best man, South Florida DE…

While TGI is saying it's really not much of a need with Osi Umenyiora, happy or not, Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka on board, it would be very foolish to rule out New York spending its top pick on a defensive end. One very intriguing DE, who is expected to go around the middle of the first round, is South Florida product Jason Pierre-Paul. At 6-5, 265, he already has the makings of a formidable D-end. While he's still relatively raw in NFL terms, he does have great versatility and is looked upon as a player with tremendous upside. That alone might make him a solid pick for Big Blue since there would be no immediate need to thrust him onto the front line. He could be slowly groomed to take over for either Osi or Kiwi when the time comes. Again, we here at TGI are advocating stud running back C.J. Spiller or a defender that's not a defensive end. But Pierre-Paul has all the goods that would make him hard to resist if he's on the board when New York selects at number 15.
