thats right, meet our new #1 RB who doesnt have a capable backup.
I wrote about wilsons injury and gave my eulogy of his career. (sorry its true)
so the FA pickup is now not just our #1, but our #1 RB without a backup.
he will be , barring injuries, a 300 touch RB this year.
now if all goes well, thats going to be 1600+ all purpose yards out of the backfield from him.
the question is, can he hold up because there is no viable backup RB on this roster.
there are 3 fullbacks (who carries even one anymore) and slow footed hillis and a rookie at RB.
aside from the questions of this offense which are....
1- the OL,
2-and if Eli will pass for 70% (yeah right !!!) Im at 65% at best.
3-and a supposedly a quick hit offense thats predicated on TE production but we're gonna do it without a quality TE (hoping someone has a breakout year obviously) thats how this offense ran in GB.
4-and questions at the #2 and 3 WR's because randle stil a question mark and beckham w/ hamstring)
now the RB position is in real flux. (it was before, but I think the thought was david wilson was going to be good for 125-150 touches this year and that now goes away with no one on this roster who can pick that up.
this now almost becomes the same nightmare scenario as last year except last year we didnt have a #1 RB, this year we do (jennings) who is a total unknown and we dont have anyone else.
in conclusion, I dont have faith in any RB other than jennings (Im giving him the benefit of the doubt) .
3 yard hillis
and hillis was working with the first team now...oy vey.
wilson was gonna be a nice change of pace from jennings, so hillis will be too, just slower...LOL. and in reality thats not good.
im counting on Cox, its our best hope (Obi wan )
as for fullbacks , conner / hynoski / theres no production of any note there. one play a year (maybe)
so with all this uncertainty, just hope someone has a breakout year at RB and No More Injuries.
