He's Back

Michael Strahan returned to Albany for the first time since his retirement to watch his former mates as they wrapped up their first training camp without him.

Check that. Better make that second camp sans Strahan, who wisely opted not to rejoin the team last season until summer camp in Albany had come to a close.

The seven-time Pro Bowler exchanged hugs with Tom Coughlin, had lengthy chats with Jessie Armstead and Jeff Feagles and also paid special attention to the D-line. Strahan said he is busy taping commercials and with business ventures and preparing for his new job as an NFL analyst on the FOX studio show. He also volunteered his thoughts on playing football: "I don't miss it."...

Coughlin moved the start of practice up one hour because of the threat of rain, but it was sunny throughout. Zak DeOssie, Stuart Schweigert and Kenny Phillips all intercepted passes before Bryan Kehl closed practice by picking off an Anthony Wright pass and running 60 yards for a touchdown... Plaxico Burress again took part in individual drills and sat out the team portion of practice...

Players missing practice included wide receivers Amani Toomer (knee), Steve Smith (groin) and Mario Manningham (quad), linebackers Mathias Kiwanuka (groin) and Jonathan Goff (back) and cornerbacks Sam Madison (sports hernia) and R.W. McQuarters (hip flexor). Defensive end Osi Umenyiora stopped work early because of a sore knee.
